Product and specification
Range, dimensions, glazing and fixed or opening operation affect the selection. Include any proposed blinds, controls or accessories in the comparison.
SYDNEY SKYLIGHT PLANNING GUIDE
The skylight itself is one part of the price. The roof opening, access and finished ceiling also shape the quote. Here is how to prepare a useful brief and compare the proposed work.
This is a quote-comparison guide, not a price list. We do not publish installed price ranges without a defined scope. Your project price is confirmed after the requirements have been reviewed.

A catalogue price describes a product. A supply-and-install quote should explain the work needed to make it part of your home.
A new opening, a replacement and a Skydoor access project can have very different requirements. Compare quotes against the same brief and ask about anything that has been left to another trade.
Range, dimensions, glazing and fixed or opening operation affect the selection. Include any proposed blinds, controls or accessories in the comparison.
The roof covering, opening, support and weatherproofing define the roof work. Access to the work area and any equipment required also need to be considered.
A shaft between roof and ceiling, internal lining, trim and painting can be separate parts of the scope. Establish who is responsible for each before comparing totals.

| Part of the project | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Skylight specification | Brand, model or custom system, size, glazing, finish and opening operation. |
| Roof installation | Opening preparation, specified supports, kerb or flashing work and making good the roof. |
| Access and equipment | How the roof will be accessed and whether equipment or site-specific access work is included. |
| Internal finish | Shaft construction, lining, trim and painting, including work assigned to other trades. |
| Controls and accessories | Blinds, control equipment, electrical work and setup where relevant to the chosen product. |
| Quote terms | GST, exclusions, assumptions, timing and how any additional work would be agreed. |
Custom skylights
Start with the design, dimensions and opening. Customisation and the work around a larger or unusual opening need a project-specific scope.
Atlite Skydoors
Include the access route and intended roof use in the brief. Pricing the glazed hatch alone leaves out the wider access project.
VELUX skylights
Compare the same model, size, installation and accessories. A fixed unit and a powered opening unit are different specifications.
If something is unknown, say so. Start with the details you have.
Send your quote requestBEFORE YOU COMMIT
You can start an enquiry with the information you have. Product suitability and the installation requirements still need to be confirmed before the final scope and price can be settled.
Not necessarily. A replacement depends on the existing opening and surrounding roof and ceiling condition. A change of size or model can change the work required. Mention the existing unit when you enquire.
Check your individual quote. Lining, plastering and painting should each have a clear responsibility, whether included in the skylight scope or arranged separately.
Size is only one variable. The roof work, access, product configuration and internal finish also affect the total. Compare complete scopes rather than dimensions alone.
Use the quote request form or call 0416 078 731. Include your Sydney suburb, the room and your product interest. Attach available drawings or photographs to help explain the project.
