A circle in the ceiling, a coordinated opening above.
A circular skylight can give a room a distinct focal point. The design needs to connect the visible ceiling opening, lightwell and roof-mounted product. Where those shapes differ, the internal transition should be resolved before ordering.
Atlite lists custom sizes, square or circular base arrangements, glazing choices including opal and grey, and optional double glazing. Confirm the glazing material, build-up and available base arrangement for the exact product quoted.
Make your measurements unambiguous.
Label the desired diameter and say whether it refers to the glazing, product or finished ceiling opening. Include a section through the roof and any shaft below it. For a replacement, photograph the existing opening from a safe position and include available product identification.
Consider the light as well as the shape.
Describe where people sit or work beneath the opening, whether you want a clear view of the sky, and any privacy or glare concerns. An opaque appearance and a clear view serve different priorities. Discuss the glazing choice together with orientation and the rest of the room.
Questions before an order
- Which base shape suits the proposed roof detail?
- What are the final product and opening dimensions?
- What glazing build-up and performance apply?
- How will the shaft meet the circular ceiling finish?
- What documentation covers this bespoke configuration?
- Who completes roof work, internal lining and painting?
Do not assume a circular unit has the opening options of an Atlite Roof Window or is covered by that product’s certification. We review the selected system and project requirements separately.
